A young & ambitious Pakistani TV journalist whose sole aim in life is to live in America and achieve the ‘great American dream’, but his visa keeps getting rejected. He dresses like an American dude. He looks like a black sheep….a fish out of water, who is sandwiched between western sensibilities and an orthodox Muslim society. He is a clever guy with a “never say die &’ attitude, who has a penchant for using unusual ways to address the problems in his life. He is a born leader.
He is Ali’s friend, apartment mate and cameraman. He’s around same age as Ali. They cover the news stories together. He has blind faith in Ali and is with him through the thick and thin of things. Most of the times, it is his foolish suggestions, that spark off the brilliant ideas in Ali. He seems to be aloof and disheveled.
He is an American intelligence officer. A war veteran, he is meticulous, fast, focused and manipulative. He has a typical American body language: arrogant, casual and full of gestures that define a strong air of superiority complex around himself – He is always dressed in black suits and stylish sunglasses accompanied with a mysterious smile
An expert make up artist. She has a double personality. When she is working in her shady office, she wears conventional suits and covers her head. The moment she is in her personal space, she sheds outgoing ‘Bindaas’ girl. She is a perfectionist who dreams about opening her own chain of beauty salons one day.
A young on-line editor of Saudi descent. Always dressed in traditional clothes. He is a silent ‘victim’ of constant harassment by his boss. He is unusually quiet but inside him, there is a writer waiting to be unleashed. He is also good with multi tasking and plays the role of Ali’s man Friday with perfection.
A small time TV news channel owner who takes himself and his cheap channel too seriously. He likes to dictate terms and mentally exploits his employees to frustrating levels. He is greedy, selfish, abusive, obnoxious and arrogant.
A small time radio jockey with a communist bend. He opposes the American war on terror. He possesses the unique talent of mimicking people with absolute similarity.
TERE BIN LADEN is a tongue-in-cheek comedy about an ambitious young news reporter from Pakistan who is desperate to migrate to the US in pursuit of the American dream. His repeated attempts to immigrate are shot down as his visa is always rejected. But when things couldn’t look worse he comes across an Osama Bin Laden look alike. Ali then hatches a scheme to produce a fake Osama video and sell it to news channels as a breakthrough scoop! Unfortunately there are serious ramifications as the White House gets involved and dispatches an overzealous secret agent on Ali’s trail.
