Hamraaz Urdu: ‘Hamraaz’ is a 1967 Hindi film produced and directed by B. R. Chopra. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Mumtaz, Sarika, Madan Puri, Iftekhar, Balraj Sahni, Jeevan, Helen and Vimi. The films music is by Ravi. The songs have been beautifully written by the great Urdu poet Sahir Ludhianvi (Lyrics).Kumar is a well-known stage actor in Bombay. While on a trip to scenic Darjeeling, he meets with and falls in love with, Meena, the only daughter of wealthy military contractor, Verma. Shortly thereafter Kumar and Meena get married and return home to Bombay. Four years later Meena’s dad passes away after telling her something that he had hidden from her for four years.Then a year later, Kumar notices that Meena does not accompany him to the stage anymore, and excuses herself on the pretext of being ill.

Shortly thereafter, Meena gets killed, the Police assign this case of Inspector Ashok who starts his investigation – which will reveal that Meena was meeting secretly with Captain Mahendra; had been married to Captain Rajesh, and has a daughter by the name of Sarika in an orphanage. All Ashok knows is that the primary suspect is a bearded man by the name of S.N. Sinha who was lurking near Meena’s residence on the night of the murder, and all clues so far seem to be pointing an accusing finger at Kumar.Storyline to this point clears all about Meena’s past, Captain Rajesh and S.N. Sinha but the mystery of Meena’s Murder still remains. Captain Rajesh tells kumar that whoever is the killer, is seen well by the baby girl because she was present in the room where Meena was murdered. Together they embark on a journey to find the baby girl tracing her to Ooty. At the last it comes out that Meena was killed by a greedy man who had adopted the girl from orphanage as a means to blackmail his father-in-law (A Tea Estate owner) into paying Rs. 5 lacs for selling girl to his father-in-law by falsely claiming that girl is his real granddaughter and how Meena’s interference in owning the baby girl was interfering with his motive became the cause of her death.
