Movie Review: Mausam (2011)

Users Rating: [ratings] ★★★☆☆
Box Office: Flop

Expectations! There are loads of expectations from Mausam. Reasons? Well, it marks the directorial debut of veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor. Shahid Kapoor comes back nearly after 2 years (omitting Milenge Milenge) onto the silver screen. Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are paired opposite each other for the first time ever. The film has taken two years into its making being constantly involved in various controversies from the very beginning. And lastly, father Pankaj Kapoor and son Shahid Kapoor, two perfectionists in their own right, are working together for the first time ever. So does the film live up to all the hype and expectations? NO!

It takes a lot for any actor to give away two years of his career for a film. And when one does, expectations from him peak to extreme extents. Shahid Kapoor might just be facing the same. After almost two years, the actor is making his way to silver screen with his father’s ambitious project Mausam. The film has already been the centre of controversies first with the Indian Air Force’s disapproval and now the Railway ruckus.

MAUSAM (Seasons of Love) is a story of timeless love in the face of political hostilities and religious conflict, between a proud Punjabi Air Force Officer, Harry (Shahid Kapur) and an innocent Kashmiri refugee, Aayat (Sonam Kapoor). Set against a landscape that transcends a decade and spans continents, MAUSAM is a classic journey that transports one into a world of indestructible bonds of love enveloped by the roulette of destiny. It is a love story beyond romance.
