Sadda Haq from Rockstar under Censor fire
A closer look at the song shows people waving the Free Tibet flag and it is this shot that has become a bone of contention between the Central Board of Film Certification and the film’s director, Imtiaz Ali. The board had asked Ali to blur the flag and the Free Tibet slogans but the director has reportedly refused to do that.
When asked whether he was concerned about the board’s stance, the director said: ” I am not concerned at all. I have been out of India for long and I am not concerned at all.”
The fear is that the song Sadda Haq, which translates into Our Right in English, may look like a promotion for the Tibetan cause,, a sensitive issue in India-China relations.
“You can’t make a song like that being scared, there is nothing about Tibet in the song,” adds Imtiaz.
With Rockstar releasing this Friday and the director and the Censor Board sticking to their stands, a decsion will have to be taken soon.
