Sonam Kapoor: Hell on Earth

The Barbie doll of Bollywood, Sonam Kapoor has finally bagged a role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. After Delhi 6 fiasco, these two people had thought of never crossing path, but unfortunately the failure of the movie left them no choice. Sonam’s string of flops left her no choice but to accept any movie that falls into her kitty, while Rakesh’s Delhi 6’s failure made A-list actors to stay away from his movies.

In short both the director and the actress had nothing bright to look up to. Finally, both are once again working together after Delhi 6 in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag starring Farhan Akhtar & Sonam Kapoor. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a historic period film set in early 1930s. Mehra has thought to actually shoot the movie in Milkha’s birthplace, Lyallpur, which is now in Pakistan. Things didn’t materialize, so he chose a remote village in Punjab, which resembles closely to 1930’s Lyallpur.

An entire village on the Indo-Pak border, a few kilometers away from Ferozpur is now being transformed, to represent 1930s India by art director Sumit Basu. Having found an authentic location for his film, Rakeysh is now concentrating on keeping his key characters Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor real.

No cell phones, no computers, no gadgets, not even air-conditioners that’s the rule Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has laid down for the lead actors. To essay a village girl residing in Punjab during the 1930s also means that the actress will have to do without her gizmos and gadgets. Mehra has asked Sonam to sweat it out without air conditioners and mobile phones and live like the village belle she is supposed to play in the film.

We can’t even imagine, how will our barbie doll live a desi belle life.
