Yash Chopra’s unfinished track to be played during the film’s credits roll
The title song of Jab Tak Hai Jaan will hit the screens after all. But not as a celebration of love picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in the Swiss Alps as Yash Chopra had visualised. Instead, the song will be played at the end of the film along with the rolling credits.
Yash Chopra’s son Aditya and lyricist Gulzar are said to have taken this decision when they had a meeting at Yash Raj Studios after Chopra’s chautha rituals last week.
Aditya has apparently chosen to use the song as a tribute to his iconic filmmaker father instead of completing the shoot in Switzerland as was originally planned by Chopra. He will prepare a special video that will run with the credits as the song plays in the end of the film.
On Monday, when Shah Rukh, Katrina and Anushka Sharma came out to interact with the press for the first time since Chopra’s death, they expressed their sadness that Chopra couldn’t shoot his final song before retirement.
“I am sad that I didn’t get to do the song. It is unfortunate. Yash ji had told me that it will be a fun party in Switzerland after the shooting of Jab Tak Hai Jaan,” Katrina said.
Chopra had already visualised the whole song in his mind and had even included a sequence to be shot in water for the song. A wardrobe of a dozen chiffon sarees had been readied for her by Manish Malhotra, Katrina said.
Parts of the song were already shot. “Whatever has been shot so far has been used in the film. Yash ji had locked the edits of those scenes,” SRK said.
