Salman to reprise the role of long-haired character Radhe from Tere Naam

Bollywood star Salman Khan, whose penchant for remaking South hits into blockbusters in Bollywood caught on in B-Town like a wildfire — with several others following the cue — now seems to have shifted his focus to the North.

Apparently, brother Sohail Khan’s film Radhe that will see Salman reprise the role of the long-haired character of the same name from his 2003 hit Tere Naam, will be a remake of a Punjabi film. Though the filmmakers are tight-lipped about the script, as it awaits a ‘go-ahead’ from Salman, sources reveal that the script of a Punjabi film is on their minds.

“Salman is aware of the story and has showed a great interest in it. It may soon be zeroed in for Radhe,” says a production insider. Incidentally, Satish Kaushik’s Tere Naam was a remake of a Tamil hit Sethu. “A lot of scripts were being considered, but this Punjabi film that we are looking at seems to have struck the right chord. In fact, the story is what prompted the Khan brothers to hold Sher Khan,” the insider adds.

“Though nothing has been finalised yet, they are already looking at buying the rights to remake the Punjabi film.” The makers are yet to finalise the heroine as well. Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor are said to be the top contenders.

“They were initially being considered for Sher Khan, but since Radhe is being made before that, Kareena and Deepika are being considered for the role,” shares a source.
