Ajay Devgn fights with a real tiger in Himmatwala
As Sajid recalls, “Ajay said that there was no point in doing a movie called Himmatwala if he was not going to fight a tiger himself. I thought he was joking, but he was there in the cage with a tiger for three days. We know Ajay is a superstar, but the tiger didn’t know that. Ajay suffered a deep gash on the back of his neck too, but after some first-aid, he was ready to resume shooting. By the second day, the tiger had calmed down. Ajay showed the tiger who was boss. Overall, the sequence is magical. The kids are going to love it.”
Asked about the significance of such a scene in this film (produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Vashu Bhagnani), Sajid says that since the film is based in 1983, he wanted to show some of the scenes of the 70s and 80s. “Apart from the hero’s dialoguebaazi and larger-than-life action, we thought a fight with a tiger, something that hasn’t been seen in 30 years, will be appropriate.”
The film also conveys a message about saving the tiger, which is a burning issue today.
Himmatwala, presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Pooja Entertainment and Films, releases on March 29.
