Shraddha prefers to be paired with newcomers over a senior actors

She may have been labelled fickle at the beginning of her career but Shraddha Kapoor is displaying wisdom beyond her years post ‘Aashiqui 2’.

It was the other day that the actress turned down an old contract for a music video saying she was now a star and too big a brand to honour such commitments. And now, we hear, she has chosen Villain directed by Mohit Suri over Umesh Shukla’s next starring Abhishek Bachchan.

Sources close to the actress claim she prefers to be paired with relative newcomers like Siddharth Malhotra in Mohit’s film over a ‘senior’ actor like Abhishek Bachchan in Umesh’s project.

A source told TOI: “She selected two scripts from the many she had been reading. She went through both Mohit and Umesh’s scripts and felt the former’s held better scope for her to flex her acting muscles.”

But it wasn’t just the script that proved to be the clincher. Shraddha told her close friends that she was not too keen to be seen with ‘veteran’ actors who have been around for ages.

Said the source: “She doesn’t want to tread the same path as other actresses. Even when she was lying low, she had decided she wanted to do meatier, performance-oriented roles. With Abhishek, there was very little scope to perform. Her aim is to work with the Varun Dhawans, Ayushmann Khurranas and Ranbir Kapoors of the film industry.”

While Shraddha remained unavailable for comment, a friend of the actress rubbished any such implications saying, “She has no problems working with anyone.” Really?
