Chennai Express now in mobile games

Shah Rukh Khan pulled in the crowds at Reliance Digital Xpress, a technology solutions store, in Prabhadevi during the launch of Chennai Express’s official mobile game. SRK was accompanied by director Rohit Shetty and the two showed off their gaming skills in a friendly competition of sorts during the launch.

In the game, the player takes on the role of Rahul (SRK’s character in the movie) and embarks on an exciting adventure, where he has to fight his way through an army of thugs from Chennai while dodging obstacles like trucks, buses, cars, coconut carts, manholes and more.

As a special bonus, users can unlock a special Deepika Padukone avatar, by collecting more than ten thousand coins in a single game session. By doing so, they will be given a special lungi-clad Tamilian game avatar of the actress. To depict the essence of the game, SRK himself ran across the venue collecting coins. There are three versions of the game, and the iOS version will be released around August 9, when the movie hits the screens.

Said the actor, “To capture a movie in a game format is one of the most difficult and creatively challenging things to do. The movie has a vision and a theme, which a game needs to carry forward. This game captures the theme, the graphics and the mood of the movie brilliantly. I’m glad we have brought a game that people will find engrossing and easy to be a part of. I had a lot of fun being a part of the process of making this game.”

He also spoke about the games the unit played on set, adding, “We played lots of games, including truth and dare, of course, I will not tell you the details. We also played a Bollywood version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Rohit and his team kept bringing new games for us to play. We played cricket next to the railway tracks where we were shooting. We even played cricket outside our hotel in the rain.”

Added Shetty, “Games have become serious business. I am glad we have been able to make Chennai Express a part of the gaming world.”

Reliance Digital Express is a brand new format from Reliance Retail and operates four stores across Mumbai.
