Legends like Rajesh Khanna are not born everyday: Akshay
Rajesh Khanna passed away in July 18, 2012 following prolonged illness. He was 69. Akshay is married to late Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s elder daughter Twinkle. The younger one is Rinkie.“It’s been a year today, yet the loss is still so fresh. I don’t quite think any of us have accepted my father-in-law’s devastating departure… To Mr. Rajesh Khanna, they make very few like you, you are a father, a legend & a very treasured man, who will never be forgotten,” the 45-year-old posted on his Facebook page.
“You are in our hearts today and (you will) always (remain in our hearts). Love and eternal prayers from your entire family,” he added.
Rajesh Khanna, fondly known as Kaka in the film fraternity, began his career with “Aakhri Khat” in 1966 and in a career spanning five decades, he became a superstar like no other with hits like “Aradhana”, “Do Raaste”, “Safar” and “Anand”.
Bollywood celebrities also fondly remembered superstar Rajesh Khanna on his first death anniversary and said we should celebrate the legacy that he has left behind. Here is what the film fraternity has to say:
Farhan Akhtar: His (Rajesh Khanna) loss was a major loss to the industry. He has left such beautiful memories and legacies and we should celebrate that. His films, songs and his performances will always live with us. The legacy that he has left behind in terms of his work and memories is something we should all celebrate.
Kiran Rao: We’ll always cherish the work he has done for us and the foundation stones he has laid for all of us to keep making films.
Divya Dutta: I’ve met him (Rajesh Khanna) personally. I’ve had the honour of sitting with him, chatting with him, working with him. I just remember him as somebody who is been just a star with loads of style.
Ranveer Singh: He had one of the most distinct styles and he is one of the most stylish actors and of course, he used to work from his heart. That’s the biggest thing.
