5 reasons why Shah Rukh Khan didn’t feature in Koffee With Karan

Shah Rukh Khan- Karan Johar fallout: When media reports emerged that Bollywood’s badshah Shah Rukh Khan, who is also a very close friend of Karan Johar, will not attend the finale of his chat show this season, rumours mills started buzzing. There were reports that the actor is miffed with the filmmaker and has refused to be a part of the show. This came as a shock to industrywallahs, who were expecting SRK to feature on Koffee With Karan, as he had done in all previous seasons. While Karan denies all the fallout rumours and maintains that he and SRK are still just as close, we think otherwise. It is for this reason that SRK has not been asked to star in KJo’s dream project Shuddhi. There were also speculations that SRK had not received the invite to be a part of Koffee with Karan, whereas his Happy New Year cast Abhishek Bachchan and director Farah Khan attended the same show. Was SRK was left out on purpose? Well it seems that problems are brewing between the two friends.

Shah Rukh-Salman Khan rivalry: It is a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are rivals and lead two most powerful camps of Bollywood. Karan Johar, who hosts Koffee With Karan, was hitherto not only a very close friend of Shah Rukh but also a part of his camp. However, it seems that he is inching towards Salman Khan. SRK is apparently miffed with KJo for giving more importance to arch-rival Salman Khan, as he invited Salman to open this season of his chat show. SRK has previously appeared in the first two seasons of the show himself. Now with Karan giving more importance to his rival and also going on record to say that he would love to work with Salman, SRK could be very angry. Well it seems that SRK punished Karan for choosing Salman over him by not appearing on the show. Well it seems making a choice between Salman and SRK is surely giving Karan Johar nightmares!

No movie to promote: Koffee With Karan, which was famous for bringing wacky actor combinations on the couch, disappointed us this year. We saw the catty host hosting those stars whose film were about to release the next Friday. It seemed that Karan did not wear a thinking cap by pairing up ‘suitable’ people for his talk show and rather casted those actors who were already on a promotional spree everywhere. As a result the chat show lost its uniqueness and appeared more or less like promotional plug-in for new Bollywood release. Hence, we saw Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla (Gulab Gang), Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor (Gunday), and Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan (Shaadi Ke Side Effects) make an appearance together. Since Shah Rukh Khan did not have any movie to promote as his next Happy New Year will release on 23 October 2014, the superstar thought to give the chat show a miss. After all what is the point of going to a show when you have no movie to talk about. What say?

Professional commitments & health concerns: Shah Rukh Khan is busy shooting for filmmaker Farah Khan’s next, Happy New Year. In fact the actor got injured when a door fell on him during the shoot in Mumbai. The actor had to take a break from work due to health reasons. This could have piled up work for him and he could be racing against time to wrap up shooting for the film that is to release this October. In fact, the actor is reportedly busy reading the script of Anurag Kashyap’s next movie. The ascot also shot for a cameo in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Bhoothnath Returns. Hence, with so many professional commitments and health scare, the superstar probably could not take time out for his buddy Karan Johar and his chat show.

Shah Rukh Khan busy with IPL: Shah Rukh Khan, who is the co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Rider, will be busy cheering for his team as the IPL season kicks off from April 16. The superstar is also expected to attend a gala dinner at the Emirates Palace, which will be hosted by the son of the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan on April 15. The Gulf News has reported that Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Deepika Padukone will grace the opening ceremony of IPL 7 on April 15. He is also expected to watch the match between his team Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on April 16. Since SRK would be busy with shooting for Happy New Year and cheering his team for IPL, it would have been difficult to take some time out for Koffee With Karan.
