Arjun stole my heart, he moved me to tears: Mahesh Bhatt
While Mahesh Bhatt is mesmerised by daughter Alia’s talent, it is Arjun Kapoor’s sensitive performance in 2 States that has deeply impressed the filmmaker. In this cross-cultural love story, Arjun plays a Punjabi guy from Delhi, while Alia essays the role of his classmate, a Tamil Brahmin from Chennai.
Says Bhatt, “Arjun stole my heart, he moved me to tears. For a young man who appears macho, it’s difficult to show his vulnerable and frail side. Not every actor can bare his soul, only a brave one will do that.”
He adds, “The narrative deals with Arjun’s hidden wounds, and he has brought out the angst and anguish of his own life. His silence speaks volumes.” About Alia, he says, “I didn’t know she had it in her to play a Tamil Brahmin girl so effortlessly. She oscillates between different personalities and has not restricted herself.”
The film, being released by UTV Motion Pictures, has been directed by Abhishek Varman.
2 States, produced by Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd, releases April 18.
