5 things that will happen if Salman Khan goes to jail
Actor Salman Khan, who is charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case, can face a jail term of up to 10 years if sentenced. And the possibility of him being sentenced is high as the three key eyewitnesses have told the sessions court that they saw the actor getting down from the driver’s seat of an SUV on the night of September 28, 2002 that ran over a group of people in Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured at that incident. A Hindu report says that the eyewitnesses — Mannu Khan, Mohammed Kalim Iqbal Pathan and Muslim Shaikh — were among those injured. They were all workers of the American Bakery outside which the accident took place. While Salman’s lawyers have been claiming that he was not at the wheel, eyewitnesses have given a different version. In fact, an eyewitness has claimed that he had received a threat call. If convicted, the actor faces imprisonment of up to 10 years in jail.TOI bring you the possibilities of what may happen if the actor is jailed.A loss of Rs. 500 crore to film industry: Salman Khan’s case hearing has given not only the superstar sleepless nights but also his filmmakers. After three witnesses have recognised him in the 2002 hit-and-run case, several filmmakers are in a quandary as more than Rs. 500 crore is riding on him. So if he is sent behind the bars, the filmmakers who have signed projects with the star will incur huge losses. In fact, an India Today report says that breakdown of the Rs-500-crore figure reveals an amount of up to Rs.350 crore in movies, and Rs.50 crore in endorsements, all of which could possibly turn into losses if he is jailed. Hence, the actor is leaving no stone unturned to finish all his pending movies and reportedly skipped voting to complete Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick, slated to release on Eid. His other upcoming movies are Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Anees Bazmee’s No Entry Mein Entry.
Salman’s rumoured marriage will get postponed: Just some time back Salman Khan had pleasantly surprised his fans when he hinted at a possibility of getting hitched by the end of this year as he is “tired of being single for a long time”. The 48-year-old actor, who was at a press event, did not rule out the chances of marrying Romanian beauty Lulia Vantur, whom he is allegedly dating for quite some time. He was quoted by media saying, “I follow humanity. I follow Islam, Christianity, and follow right thing as much I can. I have been kind of blessed. Father is Pathan, mother is Hindu, second mother is Catholic, and brother-in-law is Punjabi. Wife, I am thinking to bring from outside…,” Salman had said then. If Salman gets jailed, the lucky girl who Salman was hinting to get married with will be heartbroken. Hence, they will have to postpone their wedding.
Stronger bond between Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt: It is a known fact that Sanjay and Salman share not only a great onscreen chemistry but are also very good friends in real life too. Salman has always been at Sanjay’s side through his ups and downs. In fact, just after the news of Supreme Court’s verdict on Sanjay Dutt broke, Salman, who was in the United States, called Sanjay’s daughter Trishala, and assured her that he would offer any help that she needed. If Salman is jailed with Sanjay, they will get a chance to interact and bond more. They could possibly think about film scripts or other business ventures. Well the sky is the limit if the two stars are jailed together. What say?
New box-office kings: The ‘Dabanng’ of our film industry has proved it time and again that he in indeed the king of box-office. He has delivered several blockbuster hits like Bodyguard, Ready, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabanng series. If the superstar is jailed, other A-league actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor will benefit. In fact other actors like Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan too will benefit and will get a chance to be a part of blockbuster movies. All Salman’s loyal directors will have no option but to work with other stars. They will get his movies and the whole power dynamics of the film industry might change in Salman’s absence.
Arpita Khan’s marriage might get postponed: Salman Khan’s younger sister Arpita Khan, who is all geared up to get married to her Delhi-based boyfriend Aayush Sharma, might have to postpone her wedding if her brother gets jailed. It is said that Salman is very close to all his family members and his younger siblings really admire and respect him. In all likelihood, Arpita will not get married in her eldest brother’s absence. Since a wedding is the most special day in a woman’s life, Arpita would want all her family members, especially her favourite star brother Salman. If Salman gets a sentence, she will have no choice but to wait for her brother to serve his sentence and be released before she ties the nuptial knot.
