Saif Ali Khan and Ramesh Taurani dissolve their differences
Saif Ali Khan and producer Ramesh Taurani had an ugly fallout over the actor’s pay cheque early this year. But the two have dissolved their differences and their collaboration, to be directed by Mohit Suri, is back on track again.
Mirror had earlier reported (February 7, 2014) that Saif’s demand of Rs 16 crore did not sit well with Taurani, who drew the line at Rs 10 crore and a percentage of profit, subject to realisation. The Nawab of Pataudi had clearly told this newspaper then, “Yes, it’s true, the price Taurani was offering me was too low.”
Mirror has it that the two have now come to a compromise.
A source close to the production house (Tips) revealed, “Saif has agreed to lower his price to an extent and return to Mohit’s film.”Earlier Taurani had decided to replace Saif after the squabble. But with the issue resolved, he will now indeed topline the cast of the upcoming film.
The film, to be directed by Mohit Suri, was supposed to roll in mid-2014. Suri’s directorial for Taurani is a dark love story to be shot in Mumbai, Goa and Bangkok.
Now, Taurani will put it on floors in March 2015. The heroine is however yet to be finalised.
Meanwhile, according to the source, Saif could still continue with Taurani’s Race series. Race 3 is likely to go on floors midnext year.
“Saif’s character, Ranvir Singh, is the face of the Race franchise. Saif and Taurani are too professional to let old issues come in their way. As things stand now, Saif will definitely be a part of Race 3. Financial disagreements do happen in the film industry,” said the source.
While Saif remained unavailable for comment, a friend of the actor told Mirror, “Taurani is fulfilling all of Saif’s terms and conditions.”
The friend added, “Saif is looking forward to work with Mohit.”
