Ness Wadia may be charged for stalking and not molesting Preity Zinta
Almost a week after actress Preity Zinta filed a case of alleged molestation against former boyfriend Ness Wadia, the police is considering to change the charges from molestation to stalking. The cops have decided to change the charges after going through e-mails sent by the actress where she had warned Ness not to follow her.
Quoting a police officer from Marine Drive police, a NDTV report says that they will consider changing the section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) to section 354 D (stalking). The officer says that since the actress had warned him not to follow her, these charges against the industrialist seem appropriate.
The actress, who is currently out of India, is expected to return back soon. Once she returns, the police will take her to the Garware Pavilion in Wankhede stadium so that she can recount the incident of May 30.
The report adds that the police officials, who are investigating the case, have sent emails to her official Kings XI Punjab ID and have also spoken to her lawyer so that he can get in touch with her and convey their message to her. In addition, the police have written to IPL and BCCI officials to get several details like sitting arrangement, names of the audience, etc. Once these details are with the policemen, they will talk to the spectators to find out what exactly happened that day.
Sources have also told NDTV that Preity and Ness might settle the issue out of court, as she has given consent to the police to apply lenient sections in the matter.
