Sneak Peek: Happy New Year (2014)

hnyDirector Farah Khan is all set to treat her fans this Diwali with her much-awaited flick Happy New Year. The trailer of the film was launched in Mumbai on Thursday amid much fan fare.

Like her previous films, Om Shaanti Om and Main Hoon Na, Happy New Year too seems to be a typical Bollywood masala film, where Farah has mixed well all the ingredients, including dance, romance, action and drama, of a successful Bollywood commercial film, which is quite evident from the trailer. It looks quite similar to Farah’s earlier films, with a few catchy comic punches.

With a big ensemble of stars, including Srk, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, among others, the film is about six losers who come together for a world dance championship to change their fates.

“Yeh kahaani duniya ki sabse badi chori ki hai,” says Shahrukh Khan’s character Charlie in the first trailer of director Farah Khan’s much-awaited film Happy New Year.

The film revolves around six losers: the sauve Charlie (Shahrukh Khan), the dancer Mohini (Deepika Padukone), the tapori Nandu (Abhishek Bachchan), the ruffian Jag (Sonu Sood), the stud Tammy (Boman Irani) and the geek Rohan (Vivaan Shah).

The six losers are on a mission. They are set to take part in WDC, that is World Dance Competition. But the competition is just a ruse for their real mission, which is to pull off the world’s biggest robbery.

With their brains, brawns and beauty, will the six losers be able to steal the diamonds worth many crores?

All the actors have been given typical characters, another trademark of a Farah’s film. while Deepika is playing a dancer with a particular accent, Boman is playing a role of a stud!

While the trailer doesn’t showcases much about the music, it gives you an idea of the story, which sounds interesting. But will it actually meet the fate of Farah’s earlier films…only time will tell.

Directed by Farah Khan and produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is scheduled to release on 24th October, on Diwali.
