SRK’s abs are one hundred per cent real: Salman Khan

srk-abs-in-manwa-lageThough Salman Khan is the forerunner of Bollywood’s bodybuilding craze, the recent clips of Shah Rukh Khan’s chiselled 10-pack abs for Happy New Year have proven that he is more than just a romantic hero and even at 49 can get a body so ripped that can shame actors half his age. As both the Khans are constantly pitted together for every move they make in Bollywood, comparisons were rife about who has better abs — SRK or Sallu bhai? While loyal fans battled it out for their favourite star, many even went to the extent of calling Shah Rukh’s abs fake. But these rumours were firmly put to rest recently by none other than Salman who claimed that SRK’s abs are one hundred per cent real!

The ‘Being Human’ founder was asked this question by one of his fans and Salman promptly praised Shah Rukh’s abs and the hard work that the actor put in to get them. According to a statement published in Pinkvilla, ‘I am really impressed with the way he is looking right now. He is really fit. It takes a lot of hard work to get into that shape, and I know because I do that kind of hard work. And it takes a lot of hard work to get that ribbed. And there is nothing fake about that. It is 100 percent genuine,’ responded Salman Khan.

Looks like the actors are ready to bury the hatchet and be more professional about each other’s work.

How does SRK stay so fit?

His workout usually consists of weight training along with working on his abs, four times a week, and always makes sure there’s a rest period between each weight training day. He also makes sure he gets enough cardio — 30-60 minutes of running, jogging, cycling or aerobics every day.

Shah Rukh Khan is actually pretty fastidious about his regime and his trainer Prashant Sawant travels with him whenever he has to go outside Mumbai for shoots. According to an interview Sawant did, SRK has a very high basal metabolic rate which allows him to do the most difficult of endurance training regimes. In fact, SRK has so much energy that he can go continuously for an hour and a half without stopping.

‘He can run continuously at 15 kilometres an hour on the treadmill. What makes him such an adorable student of mine is that he never questions the routine I dish out to him every time he is here. No matter how tough the exercise is, he just goes at it and never falters. The biological reason behind this is not only his high BMR but also the fact that he oozes positive energy that makes it absolutely necessary for him to achieve high physical targets,’ Sawant said. SRK also has exceptional balance and can easily jump over four-and-a-half-feet high hurdles which perhaps explain how he can do such perfect cartwheels.
