Sonam Kapoor to play Zoya Solanki from Anuja Chauhan’s novel The Zoya Factor
Sonam Kapoor who recently returned from the US has started work on her next, as she steps into the shoes of Zoya Solanki, the much-loved character from Anuja Chauhan’s novel “The Zoya Factor” which will be adapted for the big screen.
Since Chauhan’s novels have been described as tailor-made for screen adaptations, Sonam who is a voracious reader herself, earlier this year met the author to better understand her character.
Sonam has also started her reading sessions with co-star Dulquer Salmaan and also met with sports journalists who have been covering cricket as part of her prep for the film.
Given that the star essays the role of an advertising executive who ends up becoming a lucky charm for the team at the Cricket World Cup, she will soon meet advertising professionals to understand the dynamics of the field.
Now as per the reports of Times of India, her uncle Sanjay Kapoor will also be a part of this film. This actor will be seen playing Sonam’s father in the film. During an interview when Sanjay was asked about it, he confirmed this news to BT saying that “I received a call from the producer when I was in New York. Later, director Abhishek Sharma called me up to give me a gist of the story and discuss my part. I was waiting for a good film to come my way and this just seems perfect.”
“Besides Mubarakan (which featured his brother Anil Kapoor and nephew Arjun Kapoor), I haven’t worked with my family in any film. So, it’s an exciting opportunity for me to act alongside Sonam. We have started the reading sessions and I can’t wait to commence the shoot. We are a close-knit khandaan and Sonam has grown up in front of my eyes. She is like my daughter, and there’s nothing better than working with your own family.” Actor added.
