Ahead Of Lok Sabha Polls Deepika Padukone Urges Every Citizens To Vote

With the 17th Lok Sabha Polls set to take place over the next two months, India has been gripped by election fever. And, like it happens every time, voters are being told about the importance of casting their franchise. Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged 20 film stars, including Deepika Padukone, to use their influence and spread awareness among voters.

And now, the actress has responded to the PM’s appeal. Speaking at a recent awards function, Deepika said that it’s important for everyone to vote. While it’s a personal choice who you vote for, the country should come first and your responsibility as a citizen should be your priority, she noted, urging everyone to “go out there and vote”.
Speaking at the function, Deepika also said that awards are not everything for her. Yes, box-office success and awards are important, but what matters most is the audience’s love, she said. Deepika also added that she has been fortunate enough to be part of some amazing films.

The actress, who is the chairperson of Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), also emphasised the importance of the youth participating in movements that bring about change.
